New Video Tutorial
This is how I do the “Hands Under The Chin” pose. I’m sure there are other ways, but I thought I would share my “technique”.
A special thanks to Dave and Alisha for letting me use their sweet little baby and for my awesome brother for making the video.
He filmed a lot of this newborn session so I will post more poses later:)
* THANKS FOR EVERYONE’S KIND WORDS. I WILL BE POSTING ANOTHER ONE SOON!

Thank you for sharing this Kate! I noticed you jiggled her head a little bit. I was just watching a new mom at a baby shower the other night and she was jiggling her baby on her lap and I was thinking how that motion makes me sleepy too. I fall asleep while rocking my baby to sleep every night. Never thought to use it for this pose! Great idea! ( Nov 7th, 2010 7:39 am)That is the cutest video ever! What a little doll to sleep through it all, gotta love that! ( Nov 7th, 2010 7:07 am) |

Disappointed that your studio video has been removed. I love your images and your style. I’m a student at New England School of Photography in Boston.
( Feb 26th, 2012 8:49 am)So sad you took this down. : (
( Dec 15th, 2011 4:03 am)I’ve been reading your blog for a couple of months now and I love all the pictures you take!!! I also loved the videos and I was so happy you shared all your talent with us. I am so sad when I noticed you removed the videos and like Brock I ask you to reconsider. I wish I could go to your workshop, to learn all those things hands on, but I just live too far away. That was really so generous and nice of you to share your talent, but now I feel sad you took it off
( Dec 2nd, 2011 8:24 pm)Katie, I hope you will reconsider your plan to no longer share teaching information to others through online formats and otherwise outside of your workshops. I am sure you have thought it through fully. I personally follow your blog weekly, although I stopped watching many blogs for the last two months to funnel my attention elsewhere and missed the boat on this wonderful post. I would have loved to see the video.
My two cents on the situation. As a person that attends different expos, and tradeshows on photography and other topics. I have seen this situation before. To spend the high dollar cost for your small group workshops is worth every penny regardless of you helping others out for free or less money. The money spent on a workshop is for small group training, hands on experience and more. the info gained is the reason you spend that much money. When I go to say photoshop world and you are there as a presenter, you will likely share some of the same info that you present in your workshops. well I only spent a few hundred dollars on that. And then you post a few 2 minute videos here and there or make a book and sell it for $30 dollars. That is how you personally grow your teaching skills, and business. That doesn’t devalue your workshops. Any person that would publicly slander your efforts to teach others in any way different then the financial cost that person spent learning with you, didn’t either learn anything or know how to make it work for them in their situation. They should have thought harder about what they were learning and spending their money on first. They paid for the experience of working with you, not for a studio tour. IF you charged them $1800 for a two minute studio tour and they paid it they are fools, but that isn’t what they paid for and they are forgetting that.
Would I love to see this video and any others you planned on sharing? absolutely yes. If not, totally your choice. I don’t know how many workshops you have all ready run, just know you will still fill them up even if you post a 100 informational short videos on here. Because the average person that wants to spend top dollar for a workshop does so not because they would have preferred less informational free videos, rather they know what they want to learn can’t be learned in that format. They need to be there with you learning beside you and that is what they are paying for, and will continue to do so. The most successful high dollar workshop teachers, also teach in many low or no cost formats side by side.
Feel free to explore and do the same you wont regret it. however this decision you might in the future. just say-in.
Thanks for posting.
( Oct 31st, 2011 7:54 am)HI,

( Aug 25th, 2011 5:19 am)Extremely generous of you to share. I like to compare great photographers to Iron Chefs – just because you share your recipe does not mean someone else can bake the cake. Hope that makes some sense. I want to thank you for being willing to share your recipes, Iron Chef Peekaboo!
( Aug 25th, 2011 5:14 am)Kate, you are so cute! (and so nice to share all your secrets!)
